Reshet Oholei Yosef Yitzchok was founded over 70 years ago at the request of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, in memory of his father-in-law, the Frierdiker Rebbe. At a time when thousands of Jewish families were settling in Israel, the Rebbe saw the urgent need to create a strong, unified educational framework that would provide children with a deep connection to their heritage, alongside the tools to thrive in Israeli society.
What began as a small network of Chabad schools quickly grew into a nationwide educational system, becoming the backbone of Chabad’s formal education in Israel. Reshet was established not as a loose collection of schools, but as a central and organized body, with shared standards, teacher training, and educational resources that ensured a high level of professionalism and consistency.
Today, Reshet encompasses a broad spectrum of schools and programs serving thousands of students across the country. It includes Talmudei Torah and Beit Chinuch schools for Chabad and religious families, the Shalhavot network for the broader Israeli public, and Gan Chabad preschools reaching children from every background. With new schools opening each year, advanced teacher training programs, and a central pedagogical center with tens of thousands of educational resources, Reshet remains at the forefront of Jewish education in Israel — still driven by the Rebbe’s original mission: to reach every Jewish child with warmth, depth, and joy.
